Ramyun is ramen?
Singer/producer JYP gets caught up in a scandal for using a Japanese notation.
JYP currently uploaded a picture of himself and the Wonder Girls eating ramen from a pot through Twitter. The problem was in the description. He wrote "On our way back to NY. One last Ramen. I ate more Ramen during this tour than I did in my entire life!"
The netizens have a problem with how he worded '라멘(Ramen)'. Korea has copyrighted the name 라면(Ramyun), which is different from the Japanese word. Netizens said "the correct way of wording 라면(Ramyun) in our country is 'Ramyun' or 'Korean noodle'" Jung Woo Sung has also received strong criticism for writing '김치(kimchi)' as '기무치(kimuchi)' on a recent Japanese show.
There are also people defending JYP. They say that the ramyun that is enjoyed in Korea everyday is originated from Japan. They stated that this is no issue to get all worked up about a Japanese notation.
One person said "It doesn't look like he wrote it like that purposely to upset people. JYP uses his twitter to inform fans about news and work-related updates so it would be nice if the public didn't take such a small issue so personally next time."
