In memory of the late Lee Eon
Can’t believe it’s already been a year since actor, Lee Eon, passed away.
It was last year, on August 21st, that Lee Eon was involved in a motorcycle accident and left our side at the young age of 27. Lee Eon had a promising future ahead of him as a hard working actor, model and DJ. It’s unfortunate that Lee Eon didn’t have an opportunity to further pursue his dreams and career.
However, you can read about the story of Lee Eon’s short life that was filled with challenge and adventure, in the book ‘27, Burying My Youth’, he has left behind.
Lee Eon, we hope that you are happy and smiling in heaven.
2PM’s Chan-sung is getting scolded
Chan-sung is getting scolded by netizens for littering on a recent episode of the reality show, Wild Bunny.
On the July 21st episode of Wild Bunny, Chan-sung was apparently caught on tape, littering. Obviously, the nit-picky netizens captured this incident and started a commotion on-line, regarding this issue. They’re putting the poor boy on the spot for not having the decency of being a role model to the young viewers that watch the show. One netizen stated,
As a fan of 2PM, despite Wild Bunny being a reality show, no matter how real (the show is), how could you act like that when the camera’s right in front of you. The production crew that didn’t edit out this sort of scene is also at fault.
So, basically it looks like that netizen (as well as a few others) are trying to say “as long as it’s not caught on camera, it’s OK”. Right? Well, that’s sure how they’re making it sound.
In response to this issue, a representative of JYP Entertainment, stated,
The concept on the day of the taping was to be excited, ecstatic and worked up and we wanted to express everything as naturally as possible. 2PM and the crew had previously discussed this scene earlier and actually picked up the trash after the scene was shot.
Littering is bad you guys, trash cans were made for a reason. But another lesson that should be learned here is “never litter in Korea, the almighty netizens never litter and they will bite your head off if they catch you doing it”.
Lee Min-woo gives DBSK some advice
He might just know what he’s talking about.
Many stars are currently speaking up about the current DBSK vs. SM Entertainment legal drama and it seems Shinhwa member Lee Min-woo has added himself to that list. In a recent interview, the singer offered the group some advice.
In case you’ve forgotten, Shinhwa had some trouble with SM Entertainemt a few years back. When the group’s contracts ended, SM refused to renew every member’s contract so the boys banded together, bought the rights to their name and switched companies. It was a difficult process, but the boys bounced back.
According to the interview, M has previously met with DBSK and he admired the group’s togetherness and fighting spirit. The boys prayed together and encouraged each other, much the way Shinhwa members do.
Here’s what M had to say:
“My dear younger brothers, TVXQ does not just belong to TVXQ. Don’t think too much and over-complicate things, just keep thinking about your fans who have spent precious times with you and who have always protected you. I hope that all of you can steadfastly protect the proud name of TVXQ. You definitely can’t disband, hyung is counting on you. After the current issue is resolved, the 11 of us should go out and have fun.“
Honestly, when I heard about DBSK‘s lawsuit, I immediately remembered Shinhwa, and M is right! It was the group’s dedication and fans’ suport that helped Shinhwa come back stronger than ever. Let’s hope DBSK can come back from all this as well.
Big Bang to hit Korean stage
On August 24th. So soon! The charismatic boys of Big Bang will return to their homeland for the first time in four months from their successful Japanese debut.
A lucky 400 person audience will witness the boys’ sure-to-be powerful performance on August 24th in Seoul’s HongDae SangSangMaDang’s Live Hall. Unfortunately, it won’t be easy getting tickets as the audience will be chosen randomly through a computerized selection of Cafe Latte consumers.
Also, vocalist Dae-sung will be unable to perform as he’s still recuperating from his surgery.

Choi Kang-hee to publish a book
One thing makes me wary of this announcement that Choi Kang-hee, cute and quirky actress of dramas like My Sweet Seoul, is putting out a book. Not because she’s writing a book in the first place, but because of the fact that it is described as “mini-homepage-like.” (As in, like an unfocused personal blog.)
Her essay collection will be published at the end of September and is described by the actress as “without an fixed format.” The collection includes stories about herself as well as poems, and will be accompanied by photographs she has taken. Some photos feature the scenery of Iceland, shot when she traveled there on a working trip. Videos will be included on a CD to be sold along with the book.
Choi Kang-hee says, “I’ve frequently posted a lot of different thoughts on my mini-homepage, and I thought a lot of people enjoyed it. …As I visited the mini-homepages of other people, I wondered what it would be like to make a book that was like a personal homepage.”
(The reason I’m wary is because what makes a blog interesting doesn’t always make a book interesting. Plus, a blog with a specific purpose is a different thing altogether from a personal blog. I can see the potential when a book mimics that style while retaining a clear point, a la Bridget Jones’s Diary. But a book brought together with no defining purpose sounds like a scattered read.)
Choi has a new movie coming out later this year, Aeja [애자], in which her character is also an aspiring writer. The film co-stars Kim Young-ae and Bae Soo-bin.
[Variety] SGB - Idol Special
Hosts: Kim Jae Dong, Jeon Hyun Mo, Lee Chae Young
Guests: Shinee, Kara, SNSD, 2PM, 2AM
This is a dream episode for all idol fans!!! Members of 5 idol groups all in one show! (makes me wish 2NE1 will start guesting in variety shows too~) 2PM and Shinee were previously compared as total opposites and you can see that in this episode. 2PM as beasty idols while Shinee are pretty idols. ^^
The idols voted for their favorite male and female idol, Yoona and TaecYeon and Onew got first place. =) They also bragged about what they have in their condos. And though I don't agree with SM getting so much profit out of all his artists, we have to admit that he does treat his 'milking cows' well. They live in very nice houses and were treated to nice stuff that other idols don't get to have.

About Tomohisa Yamashita
Tomohisa Yamashita (山下 智久, Yamashita Tomohisa, born April 9, 1985), also known as Yamapi (山P) is a Japanese idol, singer-songwriter and an award-winning actor. He has been a member and leader of the popular J-pop group NEWS since 2003 and has also achieved success as part of Shuuji to Akira and as a solo artist. Yamashita graduated in September 2008 from Meiji University's faculty of commerce with a degree in marketing.
biography
He entered Johnny & Associates when he was 11 years old and is affectionately called YamaPi (nicknamed like this by Hideaki Takizawa ; short for Yamashita and the colour pink) by his friends. Since joining Johnnys, he has been a member of Jr. groups B.I.G., Four Tops, and most recently NEWS. Yamashita began to appear in television dramas soon after he joined Johnnys. In 2000, at age 15, his performance in Ikebukuro West Gate Park earned him an award for "Best New Comer". That same year, he was voted first place in the Annual Junior Awards for "Best Boyfriend", "Most Beautiful", to name a few for the first time.
When Takizawa made his debut with Tsubasa Imai as Tackey & Tsubasa in 2002, he left as the leader of Johnny's Juniors. Around the same time, Yamashita and the three most popular Tokyo Juniors Toma Ikuta, Jun Hasegawa, and Shunsuke Kazama formed 4Tops. 4Tops then began to host the Junior television program, The Shōnen Club.
Post-debut
In September 2003, eight other boys from Johnny's Juniors had been chosen to form the group NewS with Yamashita, who became the leader. NewS's formation came as a shock not only to the fans of Four Tops, but to its own members as well. Yamashita later revealed that at the time, aside from Ryo Nishikido, he had barely talked to any of the other group members since they were all juniors in relation to his status within Johnny's. Moreover he had been informed that the group would merely be a temporary one-month unit, formed to cheer for Japan's Women's Volleyball team during the games held in 2003.
Career after Debuting
NEWS made its formal debut on May 12, 2004, with the single Kibou ~Yell!~. Since its debut, NewS has had all consecutive #1 singles on the Oricon Ranking Chart. To date, all 11 singles and albums have debuted at the #1 spot.
In October 2005, Yamashita and Kazuya Kamenashi from KAT-TUN had formed Shuuji to Akira to promote their drama, Nobuta wo Produce. The duo had been named after their characters in the show, Shuuji Kiritani and Akira Kusano. They also released a single, Seishun Amigo, which sold over one million copies in four weeks. Seishun Amigo was the number one best selling single on the Oricon Yearly Singles Ranking for 2005. NEWS, however, had been temporarily disbanded and all group activities had been put on hold after the suspension of two of its members, who had both been accused of underage drinking.
In spring 2006, Yamashita starred in Kurosagi, a drama based on the manga of the same name. Yamashita once again worked with U-20 idol Maki Horikita who played Nobuko or Nobuta in Nobuta wo Produce, the chemistry between the characters they portrayed a few months prior having led them to work together on another serial drama. For this purpose, Yamashita recorded his first single as a solo artist. "Daite Señorita" climbed to the #1 spot in the Oricon ranking, the same award-giving body that awarded him the Artist of the Year award, alongside Tackey & Tsubasa and KAT-TUN. His single was the 4th best-selling single of 2006, selling more than 600,000 records -- twice the amount of NEWS's record sales per single. Much to his success, rumors and speculations have gone around the entertainment industry that Yamashita will be pursuing a career apart from NEWS as a solo artist. It was later proven to be untrue, as Tomohisa stated that he still preferred to stay with his group, and not even as their leader but simply as a member. His modesty and well grounded nature is much recognized not only by his band members but throughout the Japanese entertainment world and the fan community as well.
In June 2006, he became part of an unofficial group within Johnny's Entertainment called "No Border", which includes Jun Matsumoto of Arashi, Shingo Murakami of Kanjani8, Atsuhiro Satō of Hikaru Genji, Toma Ikuta of Johnny's Junior's, Koichi Domoto of Kinki Kids, Tatsuya Yamaguchi of TOKIO and Hideaki Takizawa of Tackey & Tsubasa. The group had been formed when the 8 members from different Johnnys groups met up for dinner and decided to name themselves No Border. They are known to interact freely, bypassing the senpai-kouhai relationship that had been imposed in the agency, which is rooted from the differring dates of their entry into Johnny's Entertainment. There is a 7-part round-robin on their jwebs about the formation of the group, and each member has a specific color - White, Black, Red, Pink, Purple, Gold, Blue, Grey. However, who holds which color is still unknown.
In the latter half of 2006, Yamashita and Thai brother duet Golf & Mike teamed up with Hiromitsu Kitayama (Kis-my-ft2), Kei Inoo (J.J. Express, later Hey! Say! JUMP), Shota Totsuka (A.B.C.), and Hikaru Yaotome (Ya-Ya-Yah, later Hey! Say! JUMP), to form a temporary unit called Kitty GYM, (though there had never been a second T). This unit was put together to cheer on Japan's Women's Volleyball team, and they released a single in August called "Fever to Future", the name "GYM" actually being an acronym for Golf, Yamashita, and Mike.
Yamashita returned as a member of NewS on 31 December 2006 at Johnny's Countdown 2006-2007, where the group was re-launched as NEWS, shortly after which they had released their 7th single, Hoshi wo Mezashite. The single debuted at the #1 spot in the Oricon Weekly Singles Ranking.
Early 2007, Yamashita, along with KAT-TUN's Koki Tanaka and Taisuke Fujigaya of Kis-my-ft2, starred in Byakkotai, a two-part mini-drama for TV Asahi that retells the story of Mineji Sakai and the young samurais of the Byakkotai group.
Kurosagi, a movie that was spun-off from the successful TBS drama, premiered on March 8, 2008. Yamashita, who played the character lead in the television drama, starred in the film, making the film his first movie. With only a budget of 2 million US dollars, the movie grossed approximately 15.5 million dollars. Such success is expected to result to more movie offerings for Tomohisa.
In August 2008, Yamashita was cast to play the aloof and level-headed intern flight doctor in the FujiTV drama Code Blue, along with other popular actresses Yui Aragaki and Erika Toda; the two-hour special was aired last January 10, 2009.
In July 2009, Yamashita will star in the upcoming FujiV drama "Buzzer Beat" with female lead Keiko Kitagawa.

Ivy’s comeback is confirmed!
Nearly 2 years since the sex-scandal and contract disputes, Ivy and her management company have finally come to an agreement. Ivy is currently gearing up to make a comeback with her 3rd album.
Ivy's management company, De Chocolate E&TF stated, "Because of Ivy's strong passion for music, she has decided to rise up to the challenge and once again showcase her skills." In addition they stated, "In a time of girl groups, we are extremely curious if she will once again be able to shake the music industry with her unique charisma and stage presence."
Does Ivy have what it takes? Or was her career over when the sex-video scandal broke out? Just an FYI, I'm available as a stunt jaji.
G-Dragon Sheds Black Tears Because of Typos in His Album!
G-Dragon's first album is out in physical form, and I have to say it looks Bangin'. In fact, the whole thing looks more like a collector's item than an album.
The box includes a really nice and slick looking...well...box.
Inside it includes an imprint of G-dragon's face crying black tears. So for those of you that fantasize about forcing yourself on G-dragon while he's crying and begging you to stop, here's your chance.
You also get a big poster of GD for your wall, but you can opt out of pasting it on your wall and lay GD down on your bed instead. What you do after that is up to you.
With so much love packed in, this is almost like GD's love letter to fans. Though with any good love story, there's usually some kind of tragedy. There's an unfortunately high amount of typos in the English lyrics printed on the album. I have no problem with Engrish, but what's with the typos? I wonder who was in charge of printing the lyrics, and how did they let something like this slip by. This is G-dragon's first album, his love child, and so he can't be happy with mistakes like these. These typos are a real heartbreaker, and those black tears on his face must be because of these typos.
Well, at least it's not as bad as spelling the artist's name wrong, as is the case with SNSD's album Genie.
Fortunately, it all worked out for the better because fans love it and have started using "Jassica" as Jessica's new nickname.
After School and Sunny Side are Tempted Again
Sexy idols After School and relatively new duo Sunny Side have collaborated yet again for the "Tempted Again" OST. The drama is based off a popular manhwa about an Englishman that lands on an island in the 17th century. Once on the island, the young man meets up with 3 particular characters and thus the story unfolds. "Tempted Again" has been already been attracting attention as their lead actor is a French man who speaks fluent Korean. This upbeat track with a fresh summer feel collaboration between After School and Sunny Side could just be the cherry on top! Thanks to annaa for the tip!

Seungri replaces Daesung
Big Bang's Seungri will be replacing Daesung starting on the 24th for 1 night and 2 days on the hit variety show Family Outing!
Jang Hyuk Jae PD stated, "Seungri will be taking Daesung's spot on the show for now. Honestly, we were just planning on filming without Daesung for now, but Seungri approached us and said he would fill in. We are extremely grateful for this, it's really nice to see a Big Bang member helping out. But of course, it's not a full family without Daesung."
With the exception of Taeyang, all Big Bang members have appeared on the show.
